Garden Trail Developments - Winner of the Environmental Award (Hamilton Halton Home Builders Association)!

Emshih Developments, Losani Homes, Branthaven Homes worked together and went beyond legislative requirements to incorporate and reintroduce significant environmental features into a new development project – Garden Trail in Burlington.

This project is the region’s most successful example of brownfields redevelopment and environmental responsibility. It has faced some of the most challenging obstacles for development and has succeeded beyond anyone’s expectations.

The property has dealt with significant highway exposure, CN Railway issues, a complete environmental assessment, a lengthy and successful environmental decommissioning, significant stormwater issues, Ministry of Fishery concerns due to the Grindstone Creek crossing and urbanization issues of surrounding neighbourhoods. The neighbouring lands include City of Burlington Parkland, Halton Conservation Authority lands and the lands of the Royal Botanical Gardens.

Satisfying the concerns of these neighbours was no easy task. The end result is extremely satisfying to all neighbours and parties involved.

Anyone who has strolled around the neighbourhood and into the RBG and conservation lands adjacent to the new residential area is absolutely impressed with the natural environment.
